-Leadership

-Communication

-Safety and Human Rights

-Managing conflict and mediation

-Summer camp skills (e.g. facilitating play, crafting, camp songs and more)

-Important employment skills (responsibility, consistency, reliability)

-First Aid/CPR/AED certification

Training

28 hours of in-class training (completed on Saturdays – see dates below)

A one-month volunteer placement at Fun Quest Day Camp located at the Smiths Falls Curling and Squash Club (13 Old Slys Rd.) across from Lower Reach Park.

Training Details

• In-class training – 9am to 4pm
April 26 & May 3, 10 & 17 2025
• Volunteer Fun Quest Camp Placement
9 am-4pm Weekdays either
June 30-July 25 OR August 4-29, 2025

Upon successful completion of the program, these hours will provide training and also result in a letter* confirming completion of 40 volunteer hours (*for participants currently enrolled in high school)

What to Bring to Camp Placement

Hat & Sunscreen

Water bottle

Nut free lunch and 2 snacks

Bathing suit and towel

Running shoes and socks

Optional to Bring to Camp

Toonies/money for canteen snacks and drinks (all items are $2).

The canteen is only open at lunch break. Options include Bubly drinks, chips, nut free granola bars, and hot dogs on Fridays.

What NOT to Bring to Camp

X cell phones

(these can be stored in a locker on location and checked before and after camp – if you need to reach an LIT participant while they are on placement at the camp please call the office)

X electronic/handheld games

X valuable/precious items

X pets

Tuition Cost

$397 + HST

This includes a Leadership Academy T-shirt and certification in First Aid/CPR/AED
